Some of the barley industry’s’ leading figures assembled recently at our Field Centre in Invergowrie as we hosted our barley stakeholder event.
The James Hutton Institute’s Chief Executive Colin Campbell set the scene discussing the origins and creation of the centre including the £62m investment from UK and Scottish Governments, through the Tay Cities Region Deal, followed by our Technical Director Robbie Waugh and Business Development Manager Dan Langford, presenting the driving need, our mission statement and future ambitions.
Our key areas of focus:
- Building an open and inclusive international barley community
- Establishing the IBH as the go-to solution for barley science
- Improving resilience, sustainability and value through our genetic resources and other leading edge technologies
- Knowledge exchange & collaboration at the nexus of science, government and industry
- Strengthening the position of barley, Scotland’s No.1 crop
