IBH BCI Seminar: Barley chromatin and regulation of gene expression

Assoc prof. Ales Pecinka

Speaker Bios:

Assoc prof. Ales Pecinka, Ph.D. is a group leader at the Centre of Plant Structural and Functional Genomics of the Institute of Experimental Botany in Olomouc, Czech Republic. He studies how epigenetic mechanisms contribute to the regulation of gene expression and maintenance of genome stability in barley and Arabidopsis. His major interest in barley is understanding the role of epigenetic regulation during endosperm development.

Summary:

Successful grain development is an intricate process that requires precise regulation of gene expression and a balanced contribution of the maternal and paternal genomes to avoid parental conflict. We will introduce our work in exploring the grain transcriptome and parental genome dosage-dependent effects on grain development.
